It had some character customization but its still lacking in the gameplay department.

The point of this game is to fight against other players online in the multiplayer of Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends. However, there aren't many options for this; you have to fight as good as you can in the single player of this game if you want to be competitive online. It shouldn't be surprising that the characters in this game aren't as impressive as they are in Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends - the enemies are all small in comparison to the characters, which wasn't the case in Samurai Warriors 2.

There is one more issue with the game that plagues the player - the game gets really slow during some of the missions, usually when you encounter the boss. The skills, attacks, and even the hair styles of the characters are superb, but when you have to carry around 15 to 20 enemy characters in order to get the next area, it just gets slow and drags on. This is a reason why Samurai Warriors 2 didn't last beyond its debut year.
