Robotic Dishwashers And Dishwashing As A Service
Enter the robotic dishwasher. A startup named Dishcraft Robotics is developing a unit for commercial kitchens that aims to reduce reliance on human dishwashers. The video below shows it in action, picking up plates from a stack with an articulated arm and placing them in a free spot on a rotating triangular fixture. The fixture rotates the dirty plate to face down so that a specially designed scrub brush can press up against it, scrubbing food away while jets of water rinse it. The scrubbed plate rotates to an inspection station where machine vision checks the cleaning job, and if the plate passes muster, it slides down a ramp so it can be picked up by a gantry arm and moved to a drying rack.
Robotic Dishwashers And Dishwashing As A Service
Restaurants and other eateries are facing a shortage of dishwashers, and for understandable reasons -- it's inglamorous work with low pay. Dishcraft, at least, thinks robots can fill that gap. It just revealed a robotic dishwasher intended to clean large volumes of plates in commercial kitchens. Once customers stack plates on a special cart, a staffer just has to wheel that cart into the robot. From there, the machine flips the plate upside-down and uses both cold water and a brush to wipe the surface clean within seconds. AI-guided cameras then scan dishes to see if dishes need another scrub before they head to the dish rack.
Dishcraft Robotics, provider of a commercial dishwashing and dishware delivery service powered by artificial intelligence and robotics, has raised $20 million in Series A1 funding led by new investor Grit Ventures.
Linda Pouliot, CEO and founder of Dishcraft, says: At Dishcraft, we use robotics, automation, and a service business model to solve real-world problems. The ongoing support of our investors underscores how Dishcraft is at the forefront of technology, poised to meet the changing needs of a critical industry.

The M-iClean UM commercial dishwasher for food service is a valuable addition to any dishwashing area. And it means you won't have any problems cleaning even large washware. The spacious external dimensions of 600 x 700 mm and an entry height of 315 mm makes the M-iClean UM especially suited to wash any washware. The design is compelling, not least because of the LED indicator handle with a smart colour concept. One look at the M-iClean UM handle tells you exactly what it is doing. The display is also an eye catcher, especially if you use the Private Label option to show off your logo.
With a size of 600 x 820 mm and a depth of 680 mm, this dishwashing machine for food service is also ideal for use in butcher's shops and bakeries, where it can handle even bulky washware. The smart LED indicator handle and display are a real eye-catcher. And best of all, despite these dimensions and performance, you enjoy energy savings of up to 21 %*. The ComfortAir heat recovery system makes this possible. So big and yet so thrifty!
There are no substitutes for an automatic dishwasher detergent. Only an automatic dishwasher detergent can be used in an automatic dishwasher. These products come in either powder or gel form. All other types of detergents or soaps produce too much suds and will smother the water action necessary for cleaning in the dishwasher. Furthermore, enough suds might be generated to cause a dishwasher to overflow. This could necessitate a service call and could be damaging to the dishwasher and the floor around it. No other type of cleaning product such as baking soda, borax, vinegar or hand dishwashing liquid can be substituted for an automatic dishwasher detergent. These other materials will not perform well and may be damaging to the items being washed or to the dishwasher itself.
At Dynamic Cleaning Systems, we carry a wide range of commercial dishwashers (high-temperature and low-temperature) and offer commercial dishwasher repairs, restaurant cleaning services, warewashing products/services, and much more.
While most automakers focus on robotics for manufacturing or on autonomous vehicle development, Toyota Motor Corp. has also been investigating service robots for household use. Yesterday, Toyota Research Institute conducted a virtual open house of its research and development facilities in Los Altos, Calif., and Cambridge, Mass.
